1. You just purchased an NFA item!
   1. Be sure to purchase your tax stamp and ensure your fingerprints, photo and trust are uploaded to your Silencer Shop account.
   2. The tax stamp is attached to your profile and Silencer Shop will apply it to your NFA item. You don't need to do anything.
2. Your chosen dealer adds the item to your Silencer Shop account.
   1. You will receive an email from Silencer Shop that verifies your order and some paperwork that will require your signature via DocuSign.
   2. Be sure to read the entire Silencer Shop email!
3. Once all the paperwork has been reviewed and signed, the Silencer Shop Compliance Team looks it over to ensure everything is correct.
   1. This review can take anywhere between a day to a full work week.
4. At this point, your dealer will receive the go ahead from Silencer Shop to prepare your Form 4 or Silencer Shop will notify you to make corrections on your paperwork.
5. Once your dealer has prepared your Form 4, you will receive an email saying the Form 4 is ready for certification.
   1. At this point, you should receive an email or call from your dealer to set up a time for certification over the phone.
   2. It is critical that you know your ATF eForms username and 4-digit pin!
6. Now comes the scheduled Form 4 certification.
   1. Your dealer will call to let you know the virtual session is open.
   2. Log into the session either using the email from Silencer Shop that states your Form 4 is ready for certification or log in through your Silencer Shop account and navigate to the item and click on ready to certify.
   3. During this process, you will review all your information with your dealer to ensure it is correct.
   4. Once everything has been verified, you will enter your eForms 4-digit pin and username followed by your dealer entering their pin.
   5. Your Form 4 has now been submitted!
   At this point, you will receive an email from the ATF showing your Form 4 has been submitted and your tax stamp has been accepted. Now you just gotta wait... about 260 days that is!

The entire process can take anywhere between a day to two weeks. From what I have seen, customers that have previously gone through the process tend to compete it very quickly. Submitting an electronic fingerprint card file may or may not affect the application speed. While electronic fingerprint files (EFT) are not a universal standard, the ATF does allow for file uploads. However, for the eForms system to accurately read the file, it must meet specific standards. If the EFT file meets these standards, it can potentially expedite the application process. On the other hand, if the EFT file does not meet the required standards, there may not be any impact on the speed of the application when compared to submitting physical fingerprint cards to the ATF. Currently, it is the early stages of the eForms system, making it difficult to determine an accurate average wait time for Form 4 approvals. Some forms that were submitted as early as January 2022 have not yet been approved, even though they have surpassed the 90-day time frame. Despite this, the fact that we are already seeing approvals from the eForms system is a promising indication. Therefore, it is not possible to provide a conclusive answer to the question regarding the current wait time for Form 4 approval using the eForms system at this time.
